January 6th, 2005 - Eleanor's third tooth, her top left central incisor, broke through today.

 

January 13th, 2005 - Today Eleanor had her six-month checkup and is doing great:

January 18th, 2005 - Eleanor finally has her two front teeth, three weeks after Christmas.  Her right top central incisor broke through today, giving her a matching pair.

 

January 27th, 2005 - Eleanor balanced herself on her hands and knees.

 

January 30th, 2005 - Today Eleanor started rocking back and forth on her hands and knees.  Crawling is just around the corner!

 

March 17th, 2005 - Eleanor's fifth tooth, her top right lateral incisor, came in today.

 

March 18th, 2005 - Tooth number six came in today, Eleanor's top left lateral incisor, giving her a matching pair.

 

April 1st, 2005 - A new tooth popped in today.  It's number seven and is Eleanor's bottom left lateral incisor.

 

April 7th, 2005 - Eleanor's last incisor came in today.  She now has eight teeth total.

 

April 14th, 2005 - Eleanor had her 9 month doctor's appointment today and is doing great!

April 16th, 2005 - Today Eleanor began saying "Uh-oh!" when she drops something.

 

April 23rd, 2005 - This past week was a big week for Eleanor.  She began crawling, pulling herself up to standing, and has really started getting good at walking while holding on to her parents' hands.

 

May 14th, 2005 - Eleanor went to the beach for the first time today.  She went with her parents to the beach at Bald Head Island, NC.

 

May 21st, 2005 - This past week Eleanor vacationed at Ocracoke Island, in North Carolina's Outer Banks.  During the trip she learned to clap, wave, and sing "E-I-E-I-O".  She also began working on saying "hi" and "bye-bye" when she waves.

 

June 11th, 2005 - Today Eleanor began saying "thank you" when she's given her juice cup.  She also began saying "no" this past week, but uses it to convey the idea "I just tossed by cup on the floor".

 

June 16th, 2005 - Eleanor began saying "Dada" when she points to her daddy today.

 

June 17th, 2005 - Today Eleanor learned to say "ball" and "hop" and started saying "Mama" when she points to her mommy.

 

June 19th, 2005 - Eleanor began saying "'nana" for banana today.

 

June 20th, 2005 - Today we learned that Eleanor is going to be a big sister!  Her little brother or sister should be here around February 26th.

 

June 26th, 2005 - Eleanor started saying "shoe" for the first time today.

 

June 29th, 2005 - Today's new word: "hammer" (actually, "hamma").

 

June 30th, 2005 - Another new word today: "puppy".  During June Eleanor also learned the words "daddy", "bunny", "bear", and "baby".

 

July 6th, 2005 - Eleanor began saying "mommy", "doggy", and "apple" today.

 

July 9th, 2005 - Today was Eleanor's birthday party at her Gigi and Granddaddy's house in Hickory, N.C.

 

July 10th, 2005 - Eleanor turned one year old today!  In recent days she's begun standing on her own for seconds at a time and picking up new words faster than we can keep track of them.

 

July 14th, 2005 - Today Eleanor's bottom right first molar (first-year molar) came in.  It's her ninth tooth. 

    She also had her one-year doctor's visit:

July 20th, 2005 - Eleanor had her one-year check-up with the cardiologist today and was given a clean bill of health.  The nurse measured her as being 30" long instead of the 29" that was recorded at last week's doctors visit.

    Also, sometime over the past few days Eleanor's tenth tooth, her top right first molar, came in.

 

July 25th, 2005 - Today we we saw Eleanor's little brother or sister for the first time.  The baby wiggled during the ultrasound and even kicked one of its feet.

 

August 4th, 2005 - Eleanor said her first sentence today: "I'll be back!"

 

August 6th, 2005 - This past week Eleanor's eleventh tooth, her top left first molar, came in.

    She's also begun saying another phrase: "Night-night, baby" and "Night-night, bear".  She usually says this phrase when she puts her doll or teddy bear on a pillow and covers it up with a blanket (or the mesh laundry bag).

 

August 22nd, 2005 - Today we heard Eleanor's little brother or sister heartbeat for the first time.

 

August 27th, 2005 - Sometime during the past week or so Eleanor's twelfth tooth, her bottom left first molar, came in.

 

September 2nd, 2005 - Eleanor took her first steps today!  She also said "I love you" for the first time.

 

September 4th, 2005 - Eleanor's thirteenth tooth, her bottom right canine tooth, came in today.

 

September 17th, 2005 - This past week Eleanor's three remaining canine teeth came in.

Also, her birth announcement was published in the latest edition of "Appalachian Today".

 

October 2nd, 2005 - Today Eleanor suddenly went from taking a step or two now and then to standing up and really walking.  It's become her new favorite thing to do.

 

October 7th, 2005 - Today we found out that Eleanor is going to have a baby sister.  Her name is Caroline Elizabeth.

 

November 1st, 2005 - Eleanor surprised everyone today by counting to ten!

 

November 3rd, 2005 - Here are Eleanor's measurements from her 15-month doctor's appointment:
